After the Etnies showing and the FBM Promo at eth Film Festival, the street outside was blocked off for a street fair type of deal. The guys in the Machine shop fabricated a sweet Height meter, and we set it tup. It rained a lil bit, adding another element to the whole ordeal, which was almost cut short by a 50 year old mountain biker who broke the pole, and wouldn’t quit riding through it. I think he was doped up on Marijauna and energy drinks, either way, he was a moron. A lot of people were in attendance, including Ralp Sinisi, Vinnie sammon, Deuce, clipper, and a ton of NYC Locals. One of the events was high bunnyhop on Russ Bengston’s Project Tank, a 40 some odd pound bike, which might have been an eastern hercules. Its a beast, Mike Brennen won some cash for clearing 36 inches on it. Vinnie almost got a herniated disc trying to bunny hop it, then ended up helping run the height pole. one of the highlights of the whole weekend was Darryl Nau showing up on a 40 pound bike of his own, and entering the comp, and giving the competition a serious run for the money. He was in his usual attire, and killing it on what some might call a dated bike, with none of the current lightweight features. It was awesome. At one point Dave Ortiz yells out, “that guy looks like a cross betwen Dave Voelker, and David Lee Roth…. David Lee Voelker…!” It was great to see Darryl back in action. Big James ended up winning the highest bunnyhop, in slick conditions, on a crowded NYC street, he overcleared 43 inches, and took home the bunny hop pole, the cash. 12 pairs of shoes, courtesy of Duffs. It was super fun, and he was stoked. thanks to everyone who came out, all the riders, Brendt and Brian at the BFF, duffs for the shoes, and anyone who had a good time this weekend.
